(Or How I Made My Own Knitting Needles)

I found myself facing a long wait at the airport, not being able to bring my knitting along. Knitting needles and other dangerous weapons had been banned and I’ve had to put them into checked luggage. What was I going to do? 10 hours at the airport and not a stitch to knit!

Then I had an idea. What if I use this …

I could carry two ball point pens and take out the refills to use as my knitting needle …

Nope! Didn’t work. The yarn got stuck at the front end. Totally useless.

Desperate, I looked around my kitchen and …

Found this!

So I cut 2 sticks a little shorter, like this …

After all, I didn’t need the needle too long. And the shorter stick could fit into my handbag. Perfect!

The result – I knitted all the basic body parts for one of the books (yes, ALL the figures) at the airport and assembled them when I reached my destination!
